This Privacy Policy explains how TapWrite (“we”, “us”, the “App”) handles information when you use the App. TapWrite is an AI writing assistant that helps you improve, rewrite, and generate text inside other apps on your device. We built TapWrite to be useful with the least data necessary, and we do not sell your data.
When you tap Improve or Ask AI on the TapWrite bubble, the text in the currently focused text field — or the prompt you provide — is sent to our backend server and then to our AI provider to generate a result. This text is processed only when you explicitly trigger an action. TapWrite does not continuously read, log, or upload your screen content in the background.
TapWrite uses Android’s Accessibility Service to detect when a text field is focused, to read the text of that field when you ask it to, and to write the improved text back into the field. This access is used solely to deliver the App’s core writing features at your request. TapWrite does not use the Accessibility Service to harvest passwords, collect data from other apps in the background, track your activity, or build a profile of you.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| The package name of the app you are writing in | To tailor the tone of the rewrite (e.g. chat vs. email) |
| Your device’s current date, time, and timezone | So time-sensitive answers are correct |
A device identifier (Android ANDROID_ID) | To enforce the free‑trial usage limit and, if you subscribe, your subscription entitlement |
The App keeps simple counts of how many times you use features (e.g. messages improved, AI replies) and your install date, stored locally on your device to show you your usage insights during the trial. Aggregate usage counts tied to your device identifier may also be stored on our backend to enforce trial limits.
To generate results, the text you submit is sent to a third‑party large‑language‑model provider (currently Groq, running Meta’s Llama models) via our backend. For certain informational questions, your query may also be sent to web‑search and reference services to retrieve up‑to‑date information. These providers process the text to return a response. We send only the text needed to fulfil your request.
If you purchase a subscription, the payment is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never receive or store your card or payment details. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status, associated with your device identifier, so we can unlock paid access.
Text submitted for processing is used to generate your result and is not retained by us as a persistent history of your messages. Trial/subscription records tied to your device identifier are retained for as long as needed to enforce usage limits and entitlements. Locally stored usage counts remain on your device until you clear the app’s data or uninstall the App.
TapWrite is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
We use industry‑standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
